Dear sir/madam, I am Arewa Johnson, personal attorney to the late Anthony Anderson, a foreign construction engineer who was resident here in Nigeria.
On the 21st of April 2003, my client died in an automobile accident. Since then I have made several enquiries to locate any of his extended relatives but it has proved unsuccessful. After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to seek your consent and co-operation in repartriating funds left behind by Mr. Anderson before it gets confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank where the deposit is lodged. The deposit is valued US$3,500,000.00 (Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars only) and it is lodged with the Trans International Bank Plc here in Lagos, Nigeria.
The bank has issued me an ultimatum to present a next-of-kin of the deceased to inherit the funds or have the account declared unserviceable. I hereby seek your consent to present you to the bank as next-of-kin of the deceased since you are also a foreigner, so that the proceeds of this account valued US$3.5M can be transferred to you as inheritance. After the inheritance is transferred to you, we will share it in the ratio of 55% to me and 45% to you, after deducting total value of taxes and expenses incurred during processing of the transaction.
I have original copy of the Certificate of Death of the deceased, and it will be used to support claim of the inheritance from the bank. All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see the transaction through.
