odd_plea_0001 - 2004-04-19 A very odd plea for spam removal |
We received the following rather strange and bizarre request the other day.

We understand that some people occasionally misunderstand TOASTEDspam.com's purpose, thinking that we are the people sending the spam instead of simply cataloging it. Therefore we're used to requests or demands that we immediately stop sending *stuff*. We can shrug these off with nary a hiccup of annoyance. This one is a bit different though. It looks like someone is requesting our assistance, but we're not sure why or what for.
Is this person actually hosting spammers on their computer (presumably a web or mail server)? Did they find out that their computer has been compromosed and is now being used as a spam relay? Have they clicked a lot of spam links and ended up getting tons of porn in their cache? We really don't know.
However, the oddest thing about it is that they sent it to our network testing service. By doing so, they are inviting us to, well, basically invade their computer. Somehow i don't think this is what they meant to do. We're not going to post this for network testing since it doesn't seem to be from a spammer. It does make us wonder though, was this person so blind with rage that they couldn't be bothered to see what address they sent this email to? Can't they read?
Then again, with the problems they seem to be experiencing, maybe reading or comprehension isn't something they are comfortable with anyway.
